The
World Rallye Championship again arrives at our country with the
celebration from 37th edition from the Rallye Catalunya-Costa Brava/Rallye
from Spain, fourth rallye of the calendar, that it will be disputed
from the 22nd to the 25th of March of 2001 by Catalan highways,
with base in the gerundense population of Lloret de Mar, beginning
and end of the three stages. The rallye will be disputed in weekend,
as it establishes the norm of the FIA for this World-wide one of
the 2001. This edition of the Catalunya Rallye presents a new configuration,
although it maintains a day dedicated to verifications and three
stages on asphalt with a total of 1815 km, 18 special sections that
will add 383 km. As more important new developments of the rallye
it is precise to emphasize that all the sections will cover in two
occasions the same day, that more than half of the sections will
be made in sense in opposition to the traditional direction, one
third very hard stage with two curls of three sections and the new
park of attendance of Universal Studios Port Adventure.

History
The first Catalunya Rallye was disputed in 1957, after seven editings
of the Volta to Catalunya disputed between 1916 and 1956, always
under the organization of the RACC. As of 1964 and during nine years
the rallye was substituted by the Barcelona-Andorra Rallye. In 1988,
the interest to locate a Catalan rallye in the calendar of the World-wide
one took both to the union of efforts between puntuables more important
rallies of the country for the European: the Catalunya and the Brave
Coast. In 1990 inspection FIA was surpassed and 1991 Brave Catalunya-Costa
entered to comprise of the calendar of the Championship of the World.

Two
passed by section
The configuration of this edition has reduced to nine the number
of physical sections of the rallye. All will be covered in two occasions
throughout a same day. For that reason, it is recommendable which
the fans choose every day the section which wants to attend, choose
the suitable situation and, without moving of the place, they will
make sure to be able to contemplate the two last ones of the participant
cars, the caravan of security that moves the rallye and a sample
of historical cars, protagonists of the championships of rallies
celebrated in the Seventies and Eighties. Everything a spectacle
that will not be able to be guaranteed if the fans choose to be
changing of section throughout a same day.
Sections
in inverse sense to the traditional one
The main new development as for the sections ones that form the
route of the Rallye is the fact that in this edition, of the nine
physical sections, five will be made in inverse sense to the traditionally
followed direction. These changes of sense are centered in the second
and third day. In the second stage, the special one of "Pratdip"
and "Escaladei" changes to this year their direction,
whereas also they make the three sections of the last day (Coll
de Bracons, Osor and Collsesplanes). This variation of direction,
motivates that the annotations of the equipment made in previous
editings must be varied remarkably. An important work for the sessions
of recognitions.
One
third day of greater hardness
The third and last day of the Rallye increases its hardness in relation
to last editions. The participants will have to cover a total of
six sections ones distributed in two passed of three sections. The
difficulty of this stage resides in which the three sections will
be made of consecutive form without attendances among them. Once
passed cover first will take place the attendance in Manlleu to
again confront the three last sections of the rallye of consecutive
form. Coll de Bracons, Osor and Collsesplanes totalize 59.20 km,

In order to avoid an excessive circulation in the zone of the Rallye,
also the rallye has been designed in which the vehicles of attendance

parks from the stage. During the first and third stages, the population
of Manlleu, already habitual locality in the route of the Catalunya,
will welcome the attendances, whereas in second, that will be developed
in the regions of Tarragona, the work parks are located in the thematic
park of Universal Studios Port Adventure. The park of Port Adventure
is gotten up this way to the rallye, where during that day, the

Historical
Cars
By second consecutive year, the Catalunya Rallye reunites a sample
of historical cars of rallies In order to maintain the spectacle
and the interest of the public present in the sections, a caravan
of historical cars of rallies has organized itself protagonists
of the championships of the Seventies and Eighties. These vehicles
will cross all the sections of the Rallye between the two passed
officials who will carry out the participant cars. Of this form,
the fans will be able to see as excellent models as the Audi Quattro,
Lancia Stratos, MG Meter, Renault 5, Renault Alpine, Lancia Integrale,
Porsche 911, Talbot Lotus 2800 Sunbeam or BMW Coupe among others.

Marine Stroll of Lloret..
Verifications
and Motor Park in Lloret de Mar
Thursday 22nd of March the technical verifications of all the participant
vehicles in 37th will be celebrated in the Pavilion of Sports of
Lloret de Mar edition of Rallye Catalunya. Of 12 h. to 13 h. and
15 h. to 17 will pass the verifications the high numbers of the
registered list of, whereas, of 17 18 h. to h., makes the main pilots
who participate in the Rallye. Around 17'15 h., within the framework
of the verifications, the photo of all the drivers of the official
equipment will be made that participates in the Championship of
the World. During the days of the Rallye, the zones of the Marine
Stroll and the Creek of Lloret de Mar will center all the parallel
activities that the rallye generates. Next to podium installed in
the Marine Stroll, the Village of the Rallye will settle, with diverse
stands and carps of the companies that collaborate with the rallye.
Also, in the zone of the Creek, two new editions of the Rally Slot
Brave Catalunya-Costa will be celebrated.
Seven
official teams and debut of Group 1,600 in the Catalunya Rallye
The seven official vehicle and marks World 24 that will make debut
in Super Group 1,600 will be present in 37th Rallye Catalunya that
will be disputed from the 22nd to the 25th of March in Lloret de
Mar. To the six official marks of the World one which they have
participated in the first rallies of the season, in Catalunya is
united Citroën, with the world debut of the new Xsara Equipment
of the World Championship.

has elaborated a special plan of security to avoid any situation

number of public to see the passage of the vehicles For the monitoring

police, as well as an ample unfolding of services that summary of

the traffic of the sections long beforehand and she will cut to
the passage of vehicles many kilometers before the end of the section,
